On the 15th of April, British Chamber of Commerce Southwest China organised the Career Insights Day, giving students insight on different industries in Chengdu and how students can are able to get themselves involved in these industries.
Mr. Malcolm C. Phillips, Headmaster at Malvern College Chengdu, led the event and gave a proper introduction to all attendees.
Susi, from the British Council welcomed the students and gave insight to them about her personal experience living and studying in the UK.
Mr. William Hall, General Manager at the Crowne Plaza Chengdu, giving the audience information about his world of hospitality, where his many experiences of being a senior hotel executive both in Europe and Asia. With strong operational, sales, and marketing track record along with hotel openings, expansions and refurbishments, an insightful presentation was given.
Professor Muhammad Ali Imran, Vice Dean of glasgow College UESTC, Program Director of Electrical and Electronics with Communications, and professor in Communication Systems in University of Glasgow gave an incredible presentation regarding professions in academia.
Ms. Yang Jing, Managing Director of Urboso Ltd. shares with the audience her story and insight of the leading piping manufacturer, Urboso Ltd.
Mr. Michael Mlejnek, experienced lawyer, gave a captivating presentation about law.
Kamaljot Panesar, Director of Urban Hybrid Architecture, informing the students creatively about architecture.
Ms. Xu Ke (Susan), Senior Relationship Manager in Business Banking, sharing her personal experiences on the banking industry.
Afterwards, the students had the chance to pass by the stands for more information.
The Career Insights Day was an educative event for the incredible amount of students who showed interest in the speakers’ informative presentations. We would like to thank Mr. Malcolm C. Phillips, Susi, Mr. William Hall, Professor Muhammad Ali Imran, Ms. Yang Jing, Mr. Michael Mlejnek, Kamaljot Panesar, Ms. Xu Ke, for providing the students with more insight in the respective industries and making this event stand out.
