Event Review: British Business Assembly Chengdu

On the 30th of October, the British Chamber Southwest China hosted the first British Business Assembly at the Intercontinental Hotel Global Center, Chengdu. The event sought to bring together the business community in Southwest China to give an introduction and overview of the various UK organisations currently based in Southwest China. The idea was to differentiate and learn about the support and services that each organisation offers, how to engage with each of them and to be informed of new information regarding any upcoming opportunities and activities over the next year.

The event was attended by over 150 members of the business community in Chengdu as well as numerous government officials. It was with great pleasure that we were able to welcome speakers from the British Embassy in Beijing, the British Consulate General in Chongqing, the Department of International Trade, the British Council, the China Britain Business Council, the Wales Government Office and also from the organisers; the British Chamber of Commerce Southwest China.

The six organisations spoke in the following order:

Mr. Martyn Roper,  The Minister and Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Beijing.

Mrs. Cecille El Beleidi, Consul General

Mrs. Aggy Chen, Department of International Trade

Mr. Kyle Wang, China Britain Business Council Southwest China

Mr. Chen Bing, British Council

Mrs. Ma Qing Yun, Wales Office

Mr. Richard Han, British Chamber of Commerce Southwest China

Mr. Ben Metcalf, British Chamber of Commerce Southwest China

The event was also a good networking opportunity for those in attendance

A big thank you to everyone in attendance, the next Business Assembly will be held on the 20th of November in Chongqing; we hope to see you there!
