Welcome to the website of the British Chamber of Commerce South West China. I hope you will find it informative and beneficial in your endeavours.

The British Chamber of Commerce South West China is an independent, non profit, membership-based organisation established in order to represent the interests of our members. Our aim is to provide a network platform to support and promote connectivity between member companies and individuals working in Chengdu and Chongqing.

Our membership consists of a wide variety of small, medium and large British businesses and organisations in China, as well as enterprises that represent businesses or organisations. The support we offer is focused on providing topical information on business issues and facilitating links between businesses and individuals.

Through a series of regularly held events and focused member forums, our membership has a wealth of opportunities to express their views, address any issues facing foreign companies operating in China, promote their business interests and benefit from the expertise and experience of fellow members and associates of the Chamber. Our aim is to combine the expertise and influence of large corporate members with the enthusiasm of smaller businesses and individuals.

The business environment in Southwest China is developing fast and with the launching of major Government driven projects such as the Two Rivers New Zone in Chongqing or the High-Tech Zone in Chengdu there is much more to come. The region has a real buzz about it.

The Southwest’s role is changing as a lot of businesses now are starting to expand westward and invest in the region to take advantage of the growing amount of opportunities here.

The drive to develop the region’s infrastructure is transforming the way cities such as Chengdu and Chongqing operate. Chengdu’s international airport flies direct to Europe, a metro system is nearing completion and its reputation as a city of leisure is growing. Over in Chongqing, GDP growth was registered at 14.3 in 2009, a new river port has been established and ambitious developments initiatives such as the Two Rivers New Zone (the Shanghai Pudong of the Southwest) are underway. The SouthWest Chamber aims to help our members to make the most of these new developments.
