Introduction
British Chamber of Commerce in China
The British Chamber of Commerce in China is an independent, not‐for‐profit, membership‐based organization providing connectivity for British Business in China. As a subsidiary of the BCCC, the British Chamber of Commerce South West China works alongside the Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong Chambers. Our Head‐Office is located in Chengdu with a branch office now in Chongqing where we are currently expanding our operations.
History
Since 1997, the British Chamber of Commerce South West China has been assisting the British business community in South West China. The BCCSWC membership is spread throughout Chengdu and Chongqing.
We operate independently but cooperate closely with our other British partner organizations in the region (China-Britain Business Council, British Consulate-General, UKTI, British Council and CBI) on a number of issues, working together to provide a more comprehensive, value‐added service for members.
Our Offer
Our central office has been operating in Beijing for nearly 25 years and was formally established in 1993 to represent and promote the interests of our members: both British & International MNCs and SMEs, British individuals, professors and Returned Scholars.
The Chamber brings together the expertise and influence of large multinational corporate members with the dynamism of smaller enterprises and individuals whilst at the same time retaining a community‐like atmosphere of mutual support and common purpose. The BCCSWC has a rich resource of on the ground experience and other connection channels through the broad membership base in Southwest China.
Strengthened by our wider networks through the CBBC, British Consulate-General, UKTI, CBI, the British Council and other associations in China and the UK, we offer access to an extensive network and information source.
It is our goal to help our members foster trade and investment links in South West China and in the United Kingdom, and to promote the development of their business interests. The BCCSWC also provides a forum for members to exchange information, arranges for British Consular briefings, speakers, and produces a set of professionally targeted publications including; the Chamber’s ‘Face’ magazine, and the British Business in China Directory.
