Monday 25th October 2010 Chongqing, China: The British Chamber of Commerce South West China hosted its first Annual General Meeting at the Howard Johnson ITC Plaza with guests from the Chambers Chongqing members and partners. Attendees included representatives from the foreign consulates, Fortune 500 companies, British and other foreign companies and local companies in Chongqing.
The AGM featured the election announcement of the new Chongqing Sub-Committee by Tom Simpson, General Manager of BCCSWC Chongqing, as well as speeches by Steven Smith, Deputy Consul-General of the British Consulate Chongqing, Zhao Yong, Chairwoman of the BCCSWC Executive Committee, and Cao Ping, Chairman of the BCCSWC Chongqing Sub-Committee. The AGM was an opportunity to reflect on the Chamber’s time in Chongqing to date, as well as setting out its aims for the future.
The evening was deemed a great success by all in attendance and can be regarded as an important milestone for the British Chamber of Commerce events in Chongqing.
We are looking forward to working with the new Sub-Committee over the next year and seeing many new initiatives come to fruition. By enabling the growth of a stronger platform for our current members, our aim is to facilitate their current market shares and capitalize on future growth possibilities here in South West China.
