Movember Charity Event - Monday, 1st of November @ The Harp

Monday night’s Kick-off party and fundraiser for Movember was a great success and huge fun was had by all for all those taking part, either by signing up for the Moustache cultivation that Movember is based on, or just by turning up and purchasing a drink.

As well as letting us use it as the venue for the Movember launch, the owners of the Harp Irish Pub (9F Hong Ya Dong), Shang Liu and Chris Coonan, kindly offered to donate 10rmb from every drink purchased between 20:00 and Midnight at the pub towards the Movember fundraising campaign. The event was also attended by the representatives from our friends at the Chongqing Huiling mental disabilities charity. There was even a cut-throat barber to shave those who had forgotten to!

At the end of the night a total of 1840rmb was raised from drinks sales alone, with Shang and Chris donating over 150rmb to round it out to 2000rmb! With over 30 participants, and multiple organisations pledging to grow moustaches for sponsorship, it was a great first day of fundraising!
