VIP lunch with British Consulate - General - Nick Whittingham

On Monday the 19th July 2010 Chengdu, The British Chamber of Commerce South West China hosted a VIP lunch with British Consul-General, Mr. Nick Whittingham at Crown Plaza Hotel with Britcham members in attendance.
Mr. Nick Whittingham covered a wide range of subjects during the lunch, ranging from the UK government's planned budget cuts and the VISA application process. Later he covered the UK government’s views on, and relationship with China, as well as other developing Asian countries. Also covered during the talk, were the challenges faced by British business wanting to come to China, and the challenges for Chinese businesses wanting to go to the UK. Lastly he covered strategies that were being used to encourage international businesses with a presence in other parts of China, to come to see the South West with a view to encouraging investing in the area. After the talk was finished the British Chamber members were treated to a lunch and wine.
