Sustainable Chongqing

The Sustainable Chongqing group was inaugurated by the British Chamber of Commerce Southwest China on Friday, 12th November 2010. Since November the Sustainable Chongqing Group has begun actively working together to develop a centralised project which utilises the wide skill-set available.

 

The project will simultaneously consist of an educational programme and the formation of a low carbon exhibition space, hopefully situated in the new Liang Jiang area. A key theme of Sustainable Chongqing is interacting with the community of Chongqing through these initiatives.
 
Since its creation, the group has developed a set of focussed targets and established its aims. These are:
 
  • Establish a Sustainable Development Institute promoting sustainable development in Chongqing.
  • Deliver a multi functional low carbon sustainable building in Chongqing.
  • Compile a Sustainable Development Institute handbook which will provide project management guidelines for low carbon construction. This will be freely distributed.
  • Support member companies with winning commercial projects and developing partnerships with local Government and companies in Chongqing.
  • Share information and demonstrate group skills and services.
  • Achieve mutually beneficial goals through British Chamber coordinated forums.
By delivering success on this project, there will be many benefits for all those who are involved in this project and especially for the city of Chongqing as a whole. The benefits will be commercial, educational and social.
 
Commercial
 
Members will win commercial contracts by demonstrating their skills and services to the group. The institute will serve as an incubator for local and foreign businesses.
 
Global sponsorship and recognition opportunities for commercial and governmental organisations seeking to publicise their contribution to Chongqing’s move towards becoming a low carbon economy.

To develop a broad sense of environmental awareness in Chongqing through the low carbon movement.
