Today (March 3) sees the opening in China of plenary sessions of the National People’s Congress (China’s equivalent of a parliament) and the Chinese People’s Political Congress (the country’s top political advisory body).

It is anticipated that discussions will determine which protected wildlife species can be traded commercially within China – including tigers – and EIA is concerned that including endangered species on the list will only worsen the pressures on them.
