Event Review | 2018 British Day & The Royal Wedding (20/05)

On Sunday 20th of May, the British Chamber of Commerce Southwest China held the 5th British Day at the beautiful Green Luxe Lakes in south Chengdu. British Day is an action pack family activity day which celebrates British Culture! From the moment the guests arrived it was clear to see the journey was worth it! Over 50 companies participated in the British Day and came together to offer a truly unique experience for both local and international families living in Chengdu!

The venue itself is surrounded by lakes, horse stalls, a rose garden, stone gardens, children playgrounds and many little hills and pockets to enjoy the refreshing breeze while enjoying scenery.

Each participating company prepared a booth with games, activities and challenges for our guests to participate in. Throughout the day guests were also able to enjoy a variety of performances and communal activities of all different types!

The day was fully packed with different fun games and educational activities for children, which all were organized and carried out by our member companies.

There were three different zones: Stage area, Green Luxe Camp, Central Zone and Sports/Water Zone, each zone offered various workshops, games, competitions, activities and entertainment.

On the stage you could enjoy different live music acts, theatre, dancing and authentic Chinese clapper talk.

Children and their parents could compete in tug of war and spoon and egg race at the Central area.

Everyones hearts were stolen when these little African drum players took over the field.

It was a very warm and sunny Sunday, to cool yourself down, everyone could join the water activities at the Water/Spot Zone.

All guests had the chance to watch The Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from the LED screen. Everyone had opportunity to take pictures with the happy couple, as there was a photo stand available at the site.

Guests could enjoy variety of local and international refreshments from different some of the best Chengdu restaurants.

We would like to thank all the families who attended the event, created this fun atmosphere and made this event huge success; all of our vendors and volunteers for the hard work and dedication and of course special thanks to all of the little performers.

We want to thank all of our partners and sponsors for making 2018 British Day happen! In particular our key sponsors:
