EVENT BACKGROUND
This is an annual event for the British Chamber of Commerce, aiming at matching the best resources between recruiters and employees of Education industry in the international community of Chengdu. Educational companies are able to share information about available job vacancies. Companies are then able to participate and exhibit in our ‘Careers in Education Job Fair’. Potential candidates will be able to join the drop in session and meet with potential employers in an informal and friendly environment.

In accordance with the national policies encouraging education innovation, the Xinjin government has supported the development of Malvern College Chengdu’s unique education offering which is designed to match the requirements of top international universities and to cultivate globalized talents for the 21st century—enabling Malvern College Chengdu opened a brand-new, purpose-built campus in September 2020 and become the key education institution of Xinjin. Support for Malvern College Chengdu also comes from the British Consulate, the China-Britain Trade Association, the British Chamber of Commerce, and the Chengdu Economic and Trade Office of Hong Kong SAR Government, and other government agencies.
Malvern College Chengdu’s new campus is lying in Xinjin, close to Mumashan area, next to a high-speed rail station and a metro station. The campus is surrounded by scenic hills and rivers, it is a prime location for an academic institution of high global calibre. With a planned area of 10 Hectares (150 Mu) and a total building area of 60,000 sqm.
Stirling College, Chengdu University is a new collaboration between the University of Stirling in the UK and Chengdu University (CDU). Students studying on our three University of Stirling programmes – BA (Hons) Sport Studies, BA (Hons) Digital Media, and BSc (Hons) Data Science – will also study related programmes with CDU, graduating with dual awards on successful completion of their degrees, and will also have the option of spending some of their time in the UK. The partnership is located in CDU’s extensive campus in the East of the city, where students and staff will enjoy access not only to excellent facilities provided by CDU, but also benefit from proximity to Qinglong Lake Wetland Park and convenient transport links to the city via metro line 4.

The first of Chengdu University of Technology’s Sino-British Programmes was approved by the Sichuan Department of Education in 2004 and launched with an intake of over 200 students in September 2005. Additional awards have since been approved and there are now 1800 students across four collaborative programmes BA Business Management with Staffordshire University and BSc Accountancy, BSc Computer Science and BSc Software Engineering with Oxford Brookes University. Each of the awards starts with a one-year International Foundation Programme that is then followed by more specialised courses such that DipHE awards are completed in three years and the BA/BSc awards in four.
All collaborative programmes are officially approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education or the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education. Students are recruited through the National College Entrance Examination system and are enrolled as full students at both the Chinese and the UK partner universities.
The development and growth of the academic partnerships at CDUT have been led by Overseas Education Investment Management (HK) Limited (OEIM). This company was set up explicitly to support the collaboration at CDUT in 2005 and this remains OEIM’s flagship project. OEIM employs the teaching staff delivering the awards and manages their daily operation. It is authorised by Staffordshire and Oxford Brookes Universities to act on their behalf in specifically defined areas.
