Located in the southwestern part of China and in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and the Yellow River, Sichuan is known as the “land of abundance”. With an area of 486,000km² and a permanent population of 83.74 million, it is the fifth in China in terms of both area and permanent population and sixth in China in terms of economic aggregate, with 5.67 trillion RMB. It’s capital city, Chengdu, is the center of economy, science and technology, finance, cultural and creativity industry, and foreign exchanges, as well as an international integrated transportation and communications hub in Southwest China determined by the State Council. It has retained the top spot of China’s 10 happiest cities for 14 consecutive years.

Sichuan is a pivotal hub and transport corridor. A gateway to South China and North China, the province also connects Southwest China and Northwest China, and links Central Asia, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. Adhering to the strategy of building a province with developed transportation, Sichuan has been stepping up its efforts in the construction of a strategic comprehensive transport system featuring “four directions and eight corridors”, and a hub of a dual- circulation development architecture with domestic and intemational circulations reinforcing each other. It has already built 41 major passageways into and out of Sichuan and strives to build an integrated transport system underpinned by railway, road, water, and air transportation, creating a national multi-dimensional transportation hub

Sichuan currently has 16 international cooperation parks including Sino-German Industrial Innovation and Cooperation Center, Sino-France Ecological Park in Chengdu, Sino-Korean Entrepreneurial Park, Singapore-Sichuan Science and Technology Innovation Park, etc. Sichuan forged 440 international sister city ties and friendly cooperative relations, and the setting up of 23 consular offices has been approved in Sichuan, ranking third in China’s mainland.
