UK-Belgian Visitor Service to Expand

A visa scheme which has created a ‘one-stop shop’ for Chinese visitors to the UK and the European Schengen area through Belgium is being expanded across China.

The UK-Belgian Visitor Service, which was introduced in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou in July 2015, will be available to customers across the UK’s network of 15 visa application centres in China from 31 October.

Under the service, Chinese visitors are able to obtain a visa for the UK, Belgium and the wider European Schengen area – which the UK is not part of – without having to visit two different visa application centres.

China is the UK’s largest visa market and the number of tourists and business travellers we welcome continues to grow. This service is just one of a number of world-class initiatives introduced to create a quicker and easier visa process and leave our customers in no doubt that Britain is open to overseas visitors.

The UK visa service is one of the most flexible and comprehensive on offer in China. In January, a pilot scheme was launched which offers customers applying for a standard visit visa a free upgrade to a two year multi-entry visa for the same price. The UK also opened three new visa application centres in China this summer to make it more accessible to customers.
