On Tuesday, March 5th, the 2024 International Women’s Day event with the theme “Invest in women: Accelerate progress” was successfully held by the British Chamber of Commerce Southwest China, European Chamber of Commerce Southwest China, AmCham China Southwest Chapter, at The ICC Club managed by TEC. It was a great time of celebration for the 2024 International Women’s Day.

The event began with an introduction by the host, Raquel Ramirez Alexander, the Founder & CEO of Raquel Ramirez Consulting, and opening speeches by three excellent female leaders from each chamber, Mavis Yang, the Managing Director from British Chamber of Commerce Southwest China; Weiwei, the Chapter Manager from AmCham China Southwest Chapter and Sally Huang, the General Manager from European Chamber of Commerce Southwest China. The speeches were followed by a Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace workshop, which included a presention, discussions, sharing, and a quiz. 

Then, the speakers were invited up for an Executive Roundtable, facilitated by the host, where they shared their insights and experiences about women in their respective fields of expertise, as well as answered questions in a short Q&A session. Our wonderful speakers included, Adelle Neary, the Consul-General at the Australian Consulate-General Chengdu; Sherry Fu, the Director of The University of Manchester China Centre; Su Cheng Harris-Simpson, the Founder and President of the Women Empowerment Council; Antonia Coppey, an Instructor & former airline pilot experienced in United Nations peacekeeping missions; Praveen Bezawada, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Freyr Solutions, and Poh Yian Koh, the China Vice President and Head of Strategic Programs for Asia Pacific and the Middle East at FedEx Express.
