The ‘Marking the City’ pavilion will attempt to construct a space of memory; developed through an idea of interaction with the city, resonating with memory of an industrial process, a manufacturing intent or a patina of former use. Bringing together international and local students, academics and practicing architects, artists and makers they will investigate contemporary methodologies for context-specific architectural design and materiality.

On the 12th August, Morgan cars shall be hosting a grand day of events here in Chengdu to show off a variety of stunning classic cars from a multitude of brands. The event will feature a plethora of activities including a timed run, judging 100 year old classics, a British lawn tea party and even driving the cars yourself! A major part of the day is when there is a long showpiece drive from Sanhe Classic Car Museum to the Fupeng Sheraton. Morgan Cars have become a synonym for classic automotive elegance over the years, yet there are many more exquisite examples of vintage cars in the world and this event shall celebrate them all!
The history of these classic cars is naturally very extensive and impressive, but in brief at the start of the 20th century, Napier, Rolls-Royce, Lanchester and Wolseley became known as Britain’s four leading car brands. Following the release of the Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost however, Napier’s position in the British luxury car market gradually declined. The Silver Cloud was the first Rolls-Royce model in which customers could control the entire design process themselves. This car managed to avoid placing the weight of the car on its body, whilst offering the owner the choice of a custom chassis, thus providing a great leap in quality. However, unlike the Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars, in the Royal Fleet of cars there remained only the Daimler DS420s. It can therefore be said that the Daimlers are superior to the more famous Rolls Royces and Bentleys.
