Event Review | Member Roundtable with CBBC Chair

On the afternoon of Monday, November 18th, the British Chamber of Commerce Southwest China (BritCham SW) and the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) co-hosted the Member Roundtable with CBBC Chair Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles. The event, held at The Executive Centre, welcomed 30 representatives from diverse industries across Southwest China.

The session began with a warm welcome by Tom Simpson, Managing Director for China at CBBC. Opening remarks were delivered by Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles, CBBC Chair, and Peter Burnett, CBBC Chief Executive, providing insights into the overarching direction of Sino-UK relations and CBBC’s strategic initiatives. Peter also introduced CBBC’s work and highlighted ideas for expanding services and partnerships within the Southwest region. Paul Sives, Chair of BritCham SW, followed with a speech discussing the opportunities and challenges for UK businesses in Southwest China.

The following roundtable discussion provided a platform for local business representatives to introduce their operations and engage directly with Sir Sherard. The interactive session featured a candid Q&A, where Sir Sherard addressed attendees’ questions with valuable insights.

The event successfully fostered dialogue and collaboration between CBBC leadership, BritCham SW members, and local business representatives, strengthening the connection between Southwest China and the broader UK-China business network.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to The Executive Centre, a sustaining member of BritCham SW, for their generous support in hosting this event, and to all participants for making it a success.
